Not a even a question, this is the best Thor film, period. Not as brooding or dark as the first two (I do have a soft spot for The Dark World, however), but it’s just a fun movie from start to finish. I wish I more things to say about Ragnorok, but y’all pretty much covered everything I loved about it. The best way to see it, is IMAX 3D.

loved your review. loved this movie. i feel like i’m in the minority that actually loved the first thor movie –
didn’t care too much for the first one. so i was amped for this already as he’s one of my fave characters from the mcu. watched it twice over opening weekend, glad i did because it was just as good second time round and i missed a few things first watch cos we were all laughing so hard. there’s a few jokes in there that i feel were very much kiwi in-jokes (i’m from nz) and taika is such a national treasure seeing how well received it’s been has made me strangely proud. going back for another watch to see it in 3D. loved everything about this movie.

Hi Rod and Karen,
As time passes, I’m finding that I like THor Ragnarok a great deal. I liked it when I saw it, but the movie is really sticking with me. I think I will go and see it in IMAX.
I really loved Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett. Mark RUffalo was great as well.
I think the film did a lot of things right, so much so that I didn’t even mind when I found out that canonically, Hela is Loki’s daughter, not Odin, which when you think about it makes perfect sense.
Based on what I saw, the already ridiculously uphill battle the Justice League faced in regards to Thor Ragnarok, just became insurmountable and even if JL manages to be good, it can’t help but pale in comparison to Ragnarok.

I took my 12 year old and 10 year old daughters to see Thor. My oldest has been on this MCU journey since she was 7, but this is only my youngest daughter’s second MCU movie and she loved it although I did have to explain some of the easter eggs–the glove, Thanos ship, the tesserat cube, the Dr. Strange cameo. We loved and laughed throughout this whole movie. The only thing that disappointed us about this movie was Thor got his hair cut. lmao. We all have crushes on Chris Hemsworth and his long hair. Thor: Ragnorak reminded me Flash Gordon from the 80s with the bright colors, the loud rock music, the fights, but Thor was good and Flash Gordon is just a bad cult classic. I know it might not be important for a Thor or MCU movie, but it was nice to see a complicated brown woman kicking ass. Like having a woman hero in Wonder Woman to root for and rep for us, it was important having Valkyrie to root for. Finally, I loved that Thor’s hammer was an umbrella when he was on earth. I remember that from the comics and perhaps the old, old, old school Marvel Saturday morning comics. (Funniest part of the movie, when Hulk is throwing Thor around and Loki screaming “See how it feels! Doesn’t feel good.” lol.)

Great movie and funnier than I expected.

So speaking about that planet is it me or is that the Junkion planet [not literally, but practically] from the 1986 Transformers animated movie?

It did look like the Junkion planet. My daughter thought those trash collector characters looked similar to the Sand people and the jawas from the first Star Wars movie (1977), and it did have that feel when Obi Wan comes to rescue the droids from them.
