We back and we Black! Black Lightning really got Bill Duke coming in doing interrogation scenes and Meteor Man saying nigga on the CW. What a time! And then the Gifted giving us the goddamn Morlocks on TV? This is all I’ve ever wanted man.

Add on top of that we’re getting a Mandalorian tv show on that Disney app? It’s gonna blow nerds minds when we see a real one in live action and not just Boba Fett who never did anything other than get taken out by a Blind Han by accident. Them fanboys who’ve spent the last 40 years hyping him up are gonna be as mad as Kriss having to come to New York.

And I know y’all are going to end up talking about the Gunn news, but since none of us really care and we all knew it was coming, I’ll just say may we all have friends as loyal as Dave Bautista. He is committed to fucking up his check and taking a step down to ride for his boy who hasn’t complained once and understands exactly why he had to go. He’s a ride or die on a level I haven’t seen in Hollywood in a while.

    What’s up my nerds,

I hope you folks enjoyed the season finale of Better Call Saul. I don’t think that it is a spoiler of the fact that this season Kim finds out what Chuck knew all along…that Jimmy ain’t shit!

Also some nerd trivia. Did you know that Indiana Jones was a statutory rapist? Shout out to the Bechdel Cast who reviewed “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. Remember the scene where Marion punches Indy for their relationship that ended 10 years prior? Apparently she was jailbait when they hooked up. Around 15 years old! It’s No wonder her father Abner Ravenwood had a falling out with Indy. And if you google “Indiana Jones rapist”, There are a number of articles that talk about the backstory. I read one article that displayed an excerpt from a 1978 brainstorming session between George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Lawrence Kasdan:

Lawrence Kasdan: I like it if they already had a relationship at one point. Because then you don’t have to build it.

George Lucas: I was thinking that this old guy could have been his mentor. He could have known this little girl when she was just a kid. Had an affair with her when she was eleven.

    Kasdan: And he was forty-two.

Lucas: He hasn’t seen her in twelve years. Now she’s twenty-two. It’s a real strange relationship.

Spielberg: She had better be older than twenty-two.

Lucas: He’s thirty-five, and he knew her ten years ago when he was twenty-five and she was only twelve.

Lucas: It would be amusing to make her slightly young at the time.

Spielberg: And promiscuous. She came onto him.

Lucas: Fifteen is right on the edge. I know it’s an outrageous idea, but it is interesting. Once she’s sixteen or seventeen it’s not interesting anymore. But if she was fifteen and he was twenty-five and they actually had an affair the last time they met. And she was madly in love with him and he…

Spielberg: She has pictures of him.

Kind of creepy. I guess this type of thinking was commonplace back in the 70’s and 80’s. I imagine if Indy were a real person and was alive today during #MeToo, he might have been brought up on charges.

Also, regarding the Captain Marvel, I heard that the black woman pilot shown briefly in the trailer was not Monica Rambeau, but her mother Maria. This gives me hope that we will see Monica in the present MCU. Maybe in Infinity War 2??

    Love the show,

    Rich

    Hello Esteemed Nerds,

Regarding the question of who the WB exec or execs were who were to blame for messing up the DC films were. Can we name names?

Greg Silverman was the president of Warner Bros. Pictures from 2013 to 2016. He’s the one who was in charge of Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad – and would have been the one to have that ad agency “revise” Suicide Squad. He was fired at the end of 2016, due more to other WB failures like “Pan” than the DCEU films.

Sue Kroll used to be the head of marketing at WB, and was on their (unusually large, 5+ person) greenlight committee. She was fired after that Superman-less Justice League ad campaign, and is now producing Birds of Prey with Margot Robbie.

Kevin Tsujihara, as you all may know, is the current CEO of Warner Bros. Entertainment. He made the decision to keep Zack Snyder on and also to not delay the release of Justice League in hopes he’d still get his bonus. He still has his Job.

Toby Emmerich was head of New Line Cinema (who is making Shazam! and The Kitchen with Tiffany Haddish) until 2017, when he took over Silverman’s job as president of WB. One year later, he became Chairman, even though he backed up Tsujihara on not delaying Justice League. He still has his job.

Anyone you’ve heard announced as the “head of DC Films” (a division that doesn’t appear to actually exist), like Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, or Walter Hamada, only had enough authority to supervise productions and keep costs in line. Hiring an actual Kevin Feige analogue, with the greenlight power to run an actual “DC Films” studio (there is no indication on WB’s corporate site that “DC Films” is anything more than a marketing shield) would go a long way for them.

All that aside, I definitely enjoyed the episode, and just wanted to say to everyone who said (or was hoping) that Disney would fire Kathleen Kennedy for making a Star Wars film that didn’t have Rey in a kitchen barefoot & pregnant: nanny. nanny. boo. boo. Peace.

You guys got me back on anime, and thank for that mention of VRV I love it. I am watching My Hero Academia and two that are old but new to me Code Geass and Yu Yu Hakusho. I am loving all three. Thanks to Kriss I a have pre-ordered IronHeart and subscribed to the series. Have any of you read the Mangas Dr. Stone or the Promised Neverland? Thanks for another great show.

Hey, I thought you’d mention it with the film, but another positive for Lebron’s Space Jam is Terrence Nance (the creative force behind Random Acts of Flyness) is directing it. So, yeah, it seems like they’re trying to make a legit good film.
