Film had no business being the hoot that it is. I could spend all day being underwhelmed at the subpar threats from unassuming bad men, Mary Beth Medina’s one-dimensional arc (Not Cynthia Addai’s fault, just slightly undercooked character) & two hyper aware white men offing Mexicans, but considering how well its shot, its humor, nuanced depictions of Autistic individuals (for the most part), choreography & two exceptional leads, it just does a lot right in the Impossible White Man realm. This could’ve been the same reheat & serve material from the first film (which I also enjoyed) but adding more of Jon Bernthal just upps the ante. It’s also one of the more smarter action films. Affleck’s great, as well, should’ve pointed that out earlier. I really enjoyed the backstory of Anais (Daniella Pineda’s character) & how her trauma turned her into the person she became.

Plan on seeing this again before Thunderbolts comes out.

The Accountant 2 was a good time for me. I didn’t like Marybeth’s naivety in this movie cause when she’s introduced to us in the 1st, she is also shown to be a good hunter. Felt like she lost her powers and forgot the advice Ray King (J.K Simmons) gave her at the end of the 1st as soon as she succeeded him. That’s the main thing that threw me off, other than that I was down for the killing and speed dating. Shout-out to DEI too, autistic kids to women I was like RFk Jnr won’t like this.

Oh btw I thought that the 1st movie covered the superpowers aspect cause Chris dad refused to allow him stay at the camp for the neurodivergent kids. As a military man, he wanted his boys always with him so he got them harsh martial arts training wherever he was stationed in the world & into fights. That was his way of getting his son “strong” & the accounting, ol boy learned in prison from the former snitch of Ray King who was the main accountant to a top crime family. Chris superpowers is actually completing puzzles. That’s why he frames everything he’s working on as such.

Now, I’ll go see Sinners again. I can’t recall the last time that I have seen a lot of good to awesome movies in a row. This year is quite a blast!
