I’ve been waiting for this review forever. Went to go see this in the theater. Anyways ya’ll hit the nail about the noncommittal of the director to a side. I came across an interview of his in the Guardian right after I saw the film and he was all about War was the problem. I got the point, however I still felt like he didn’t want to fully commit to Trump and MAGA =bad during election year.
I dug the action scenes and I believe that it was 100% in it’s showing that when it comes to a Civil War (going by what his British ass said in the interview,) everyone throws away the rules. I can point to every real life conflict and you’ll find legitimate accusations of human rights abuses at the fighting parties from observers. For me, the ending was unexpected but fantastic with what happened to Lee and Jesse. However, they killed the Black brother, so ughhh. The execution of the president reminded me of former presidents of Liberia and Libya executions. That’s why Assad said “not today suckers, you won’t catch me.” One mass grave with over 100k bodies, he knew that he wasn’t getting a trial!
I still recommend the movie tho
I decided to watch this movie because it was free and was only vaguely familiar with it, had not seen any trailers and thoroughly enjoyed it. I heard from you all what the director of the film said about it and just seems like another white man making a movie, while also being out of touch with what the film “could” actually be about. Seems about right with what I would imagine could happen under just the wrong circumstances.
I think all the military fatigue people are with the government only based on the weapons/equipment they were using.
I need an alternative history movie sequel to this now where Sam survives and makes it to DC. That’s a chefs kiss idea Rod! The script writes itself.
