What it do y’all,
I hope all is well.
Shouts out to John Wall on his retirement from basketball. He’ll always be a legend at the bank and I remember him being one of the few guards in the East that played fearlessly against the Cavs. While it’s sad that injuries upended the back end of his career, Wall said he gave the game all he had and has no regrets.
Do y’all think Caleb Williams can throw for over 4000 yards this season? The Bears have never had a QB do that (ever) and it’d be nice to have some quality football on my TV and be be nice to enjoy the local team without having to pirate better games. Ben Johnson had the gaze of an axe murderer at the end of their last preseason game, so hopefully the Bears are competent and enjoyable this season. I have a low threshold for football enjoyment that doesn’t require runaway success but I just want the outcome to *maybe* be in the air going into the 4th quarter. And I think the Bears might could pull that off this season.
Nice thing about living in Chicago and not being a Browns fan anymore is I won’t have to get into any arguments with Steelers fans about each teams quarterbacks. I don’t know which will be worse: the Browns QB room or Aaron Rodgers. Throw Rogan has the rancid personality of Big Ben without the pre-existing goodwill from Steelers fans and will absolutely cost them games from his cowardly check downs. Conversely, it is the 2025 and Joseph Flacco is the Browns starting QB on team with 3 QBs young enough to be his kids. Ravens are gonna deep fry the AFC North extra hard, my goodness.
That receiver the Panthers drafted, Tet McMillian? He was a beast in college catching passes from an undersized and somewhat erratic QBs, so I think he’ll do good in Carolina. Are y’all looking forward to anything from the Panthers this season?
I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for the dope shows!
Peace,
Dough
It was covered last episode, but as a fellow Filipino, I will say it again: Congrats to Pablo Torre! I think his story continues to reflect the craziness that is sports media. ESPN had all these big name podcasters on their network – Simmons, Bomani, Pablo, and let them all go. Now they must go and contract already existing talent because ESPN is no longer in the business of developing talent – RIP Around The Horn – now they just buy it once it has an audience like Macafee and the Barstool guy. Another layer that I found interesting in reading about Pablo’s 7-figure deal is that when Meadowlark Media reupped its licensing deal with DraftKings earlier this year, Pablo didn’t want to be a part of it because he’s averse to partnering with a sportsbook sponsor. It give his brand a little more gravitas – I think his being a traditional journalist and now partnering with NYT is an interesting niche he’s carved out and he’s separated himself from the masses. So congrats Pablo!
Also why all the disrespect towards Jalen Hurts? Cam and every other listmaker ranks him mid on the QB standings, but I’m someone who appreciates that not doing too much is a skillset and that not everyone can do it. Yes, he has a stacked team…there are QBs that can’t win even with a great team. When it’s time to show up, he does – namely by outplaying Patrick Mahomes in two Super Bowls. Reminds me of Haliburton in that no one likes his game because it’s not flashy or sexy, but the dude is a leader and he wins. Is Hurts overrated or underrated in your opinion?
Glad you all are back!
Wait, what you mean by “occasional” hit job? You and I got to sit down one day and chat lmao
Dang it, I was responding to Sean’s comment on mine and ended up here ughhhh.
My real comment is I did not realize that Brian Flores lawsuit was still on, now that it has been given the go ahead. Plus Gruden won his, and NFL HQ receiving live gunshots (not directly, but still), been a rough few days for the NFL. A lot of Ls, is the “CTE acting up” now affecting them too?
All the Bridgewater hate? Remember, TB turned Mayfield from a complete flop to one of the best Fantasy Football QBs who isn’t a completely terrible first string option at actual QB… You don’t think they could turn a player who wasn’t actually terrible into a solid QB?
Sorry, forgot we don’t talk sports here… Carry on…
Salutations to the BEST Sports trio,
Did ya’ll see the bs about dildos being thrown at the WNBA games is all tied to what I consider a “crypto meme coin cult scam” the group behind it has come forward and apparently they’ve been doing this shit around and jacked up their coin value (what’s wrong with people?). Here’s the article where they reveal themselves https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/wnba/2025/08/07/wnba-sex-toys-green-dildo-crypto-meme-coin/85551443007/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwMIJElleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHo-YLrFgIhGt1rkwWZSOm95bWJuF0fJWwvvNgc3nYxJInNeYY-n5H2zNt0Uc_aem_cpj8Rd1piViIcK-TdX0UIA
Thanks for the article, but I think adding “scam” to crypto is a bit redundant… I remember back in the day when crypto was only used on the dark web to facilitate third party transaction schemes for drugs and the occasional hit job. Now it’s just so much dirtier…
