What it do Rod, Karen and J Belichik,

    I hope all is well.

Did y’all know that Paul Brown

The Cleveland Browns traded Joe Flacco to he Cincinnati Bengals and if you listen carefully on a quiet Ohio night, you can hear Paul Brown’s ghost weep at the state of both his teams. I don’t know who coined it, but folks back home been calling Dillon Gabriel “Hawaii 5’9”.

What did y’all think of The Decision 2: Hennessy Boogaloo? I think LeBron missed an opportunity to make a better decision than working with Hennessy: announcing he has come home in order to unlock his true power like an anime character. LeBron done did everything else already and couldn’t the league use a bald headed hooper wearing #23?

I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and thanks as always for the dope and thoughtful shows over all these years.

    Peace,

    Dough

Hi Rod, Karen, and Jark Janchez,

Finally! They caught this menace. Being here in LA, I been knowing this guy is a problem, but with his QB status and good looks, he has always just gotten away with it. Back in 2006, as a freshman at USC Mark Sanchez was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. No charges ended up getting filed because it was a he said-she said accusation, and there wasn’t enough physical proof to make the charges stand. Then he goes on to be the Jets QB and as a 24-year old dates a 17-year old. Not against the law…but poor judgment for sure. Now this. I hope that poor victim gets all the money. And how about all those people showing their ass before they knew the details and saying those racist remarks? Now they have the white prosecutor and white police chief up in arms to protect the city’s reputation.

You are one of the few podcasts that cover the WNBA knowledgeably. Is there an update on the Cathy situation? Is there an actual ask by the players? It seems like an untenable situation and that she will be fired.

Thanks for your great coverage on all things sports and sports adjacent!

On the topic of Cheryl Reeve wanting all the smoke, I would like to share this article she wrote in the Player’s Tribune a few years ago where she talks about beating up her brother’s bullies. (It’s a long article, but the good stuff is all upfront)

    Cheryl is a real one.

      Here’s the relevant quote
      “ ‘Here, take my things.’
That’s the last thing I said before I kicked this kid’s ass.
I was 10 years old, walking home from school with my brothers, Tom and Larry. Some kid — a bully — started jawing at Larry real bad. He wouldn’t stop. Now, Larry is older than me. Having his little sis step in to defend him probably wasn’t the look he wanted. Too bad. I wasn’t having it.
I handed my books (and a hamster cage) to Tom. I was gonna knock this guy out.
I rolled up my sleeves and beat him up so badly that he ran away.

Larry hates that story. (Sorry, Larry.)
But it’s one of my favorite memories from childhood.”

I didn’t listen to the full coverage from Pablo, but most of the discourse around the Kawhi allegations seems to be “it’s a circumvention of the salary cap” and people are hearing “They found a way to pay these players more” which would be a good thing for the players. What I haven’t heard much of is framing it as “The Clippers may have broken the rules and stolen Kawhi away from the Raptors or another team who couldn’t pay as much because they were following the rules” I wonder if it was being framed more that way, would fans care more.

What a great episode. The Larry Johnson Hotep was sorely needed just for the humor. I had to rewind it after it ended just to listen to your reactions again. I think this is the first Larry Johnson Hotep Corner in which I verbally gasped outloud. Once he broke out the numerology, I was done. I couldn’t stop laughing.
