Hi, I know cooking competitions aren’t really your thing, but the latest season of Top Chef is set in the Carolinas, and each challenge features a great culinary tradition of the region. Last week the focus was on peppers, so they went to PuckerButt Pepper Farms which is where the Carolina Reaper was invented. And then imagine my surprise when this week the featured food was…Livermush! All the chefs had to elevate this delicacy. The most interesting to me were the livermush banh mi and the livermush abondigas soup. The winner was a guy who had worked with scrapple before, so he knew how to handle the product and made a pate. Anyway, I bought my ticket for the Atlanta show with Bomani and am looking forward to trying some Livermush!! (I’ll be virtual for Vegas since I could only choose one.) That discuss on Lil extra expenses that aren’t part of the considerations when it comes to a house/renting etcetera always takes me back to newly arriving in the States and being placed on the timer as part of the Welcome to America package and told at my first community event to buy a house ASAP. Event was at a gigantic mansion owned by a retired couple in the DC area. Fast forward to almost 20 years later, we got a condo with a lovely backyard and I’m into gardening now. A few of my peeps still ask if I’m not going to buy a house?(to my peeps bunch of cousins own grand houses, so I must) I said “I’m good, it’s not for me and one guy almost fainted”. Last April our place got flooded by our 3rd floor neighbor who “forgot” to change his boiler, it was 21 years old the day it blew up and flooded 3 apartments including ours… However I always had insurance since my renting days. So our insurance talks to building insurance and the culprits insurance, we stay in a hotel for 2 months during the repairs/construction. I’ve been learning a lot… but we gonna be aight, home ownership eh!
Now lemme go scrub all that Ray J outta my ears. That negro needs to sent into space, no spaceship with Elon, Thiel, Bannon, Bezos, Zuckerberg!
