A lot of the older black people I’ve encountered since the election have been blaming Obama for not doing “enough”, and that “God is going to work through Trump. God is in control!”
I get that different people have their coping mechanisms, and that I should just let them have it. But I find these sentiments disheartening, and basically just burying their heads in the sand.
Regarding the #millionwhitewomanmarch, they are the exact people who should be doing this work so I can’t detract from it in good conscience. For too long they have been sitting back and expecting black/brown people to fight for progress. They need to step up too.
