I guess I got more things to say. Once again, hello Rod, Karen & guests. Say what you will about Bob Iger but letting him go for some decrepit, racist, sexist piece of shit, who wants to “unwoke” Disney. If anything, I’m pretty pissed off at the entertainment press for pushing this idea that Nelson Peltz’s votes were “close” or that there was a potential for this 81-year-old jackass to have a seat at the Disney. Also, once you got your door blown off, you’re going to “keep watching”? To quote you, Rod, “Nigga, you ain’t nobody” I know it’s “popular” to dunk on Disney & its brands on social media in perpetual but again, not real-life. The math continues to not math with the Peltzs, Musks, & even the Nate Silvers of the world, when it comes to predictions or beliefs. So what if the Multiverse Saga isn’t exactly to the heights of Phase 3 of the Infinity Saga. You have to let a story build (Infinity Saga had a similar build, more or less, if we’re being honest, people are just being pedantic & disingenuous about Marvel Studios, lately). Same for Star Wars, 20th Century Studios, etc. I wasn’t even worried about Disney, really; because, the Peltz hype was so overblown, there’s no way this guy was going to get a seat. Disney got fucked by four things: COVID-19, Writer & Actor strikes, overreliance on streaming & Bob Chapek just being a whole dumbass. Now, we see the course correction, we see Disney’s getting together & the usual being constantly wrong assholes spinning a new narrative cuz those clout checks ain’t gonna pay themselves. I’m not necessarily an Iger apologist (handled the strike badly) but under Disney’s leadership, that company thrived. Even threatened to leave Atlanta with former governor Nathan Deal being a whole asshole about LGBTQ rights & folks. He maybe be a billionaire asshole but he has some integrity.

Been rewatching Batman: The Animated Series for a series I’m doing on the DCAU shows that spanned from 1992-06. I’m exclusively watching it on all shows on Blu-ray & DVD for an authentic experience. Sure, I have access to some of these shows on Max or Netflix but this is better. Show has never looked better on that disc. Monkey Man is a great film you & Karen need to watch. Dev Patel’s kicking ass, getting his ass kicked & trying to find himself. Haven’t gotten to the recent X-Men episode but I hear it’s the shit.

Power Wash Simulator is still on my rotation. I’m on the Egyptian level now washing a statute. Take it easy & enjoy the weekend everyone.

    Still on

What it do Nerd Off Crew,

I hope all is good with y’all.

I haven’t watched an episode of X-Men ’97 yet but I *have* seen that clip of Cyclopes hittings niggas with Marvel vs Capcom 2 hyper combos and I want to apologize to Scott Summers cuz I was not familiar with his game. Where was this nigga in all them Fox X-Men movies? Another thing I realized in that clip of Cyclops giving out that work with dat beam is I don’t think those old movies had the beam as concussion but rather just a big ass laser beam? Everyone I know that’s watching it seems to be having fun, so I know I’m in for something good. I’m so happy that Marvel got X-Men and Fantastic Four back! I cannot underscore that enough.

Speaking of good shit from Disney, remember that M. Night Shaymalan Avatar movie? The real bad one with white people, like Katata? Turns out her dad is the activist investor that Disney kept off their board and I am relieved he got told to fuck off. I look forward to seeing Hollywood Reporter and Vanity Fair keeping that same energy smdh.

Last episode I think Karen had mentioned “Turnip Boy Robs A Bank”? My nigga that shit is big fun! Literally every mechanic from the first game has been expanded; it’s funny as shit and an excellent sequel.

I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and stay nerdy my friends!

    Peace,

    Dough

Whats up Rod, Karen and guest,

First off Rod, I remember you asking about wanting to see Steven A Smith do commentary on Pokemon. He did this segment on his podcast a while ago. I have added the link here. I have to say if he stayed away from politics and did takes like this it would be gold. Also, I am glad someone else enjoyed the Avatar live action series. I felt like a lot of folks wanted the show to be the animated series which I am like then go watch the animated series. I hate when people take adaptations and expect it to be exactly like the source material. I like when it is in a new medium and takes a new vision. I felt like the Sokka needing to be sexist was the dumbest argument that people made to not watch the show. I remember blerds in a group I am in complaining about that and I was like you niggas have some nerve. Folks don’t even forgive Ashley from Mass Effect series because she is racist as hell to aliens in the first Mass Effect and even though her arc is she becomes tolerant of them at the end of the series niggas still don’t like her. I remember she said her family fought in every war since the revolution and she never talks about what side they fought on in the Civil War. We already know what side that was. But anyway sorry if this is long but love the show and also if you have not watched 3 Body Problem I would recommend it. It’s heavy on Sci-fi in a good way.

    Good afternoon Rod and Karen,

This is my first email for the Rod and Karen Podcast Multi-verse! I hope this email makes it in time for the show.

I hope all is well today for you both!

I first wanted to write my love letter about Attack on Titan. OMG, what a fantastic ending to the anime that has captured my heart. It was soooo worth the wait for the final chapters to come to us. Shout to the last standing members of the Scout Regime, with Commander Armin leading the Battle of Heaven and Earth and also trying to reason with Eren (no reasoning with him at all, as per the zoom meeting that he called), Captain Levi being the definition of ‘on sight’ and Mikasa doing what HAD to be done. I decided at the beginning of January to do a deep rewatch of AOT from the beginning and it is so amazing how everything was there, in plain sight. Just Amazing!

I’m now working my way around to some other watches, like Solo Leveling, Blue Eye Samurai and now the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen and after that, catching up to the second season of Spy Family. I have so much stuff on my list and will get around to everything, but again, AOT was just amazing.

So, also, started watching X-Men ’97 (just excellent) and decided that I want to dust off my X-Men titles and start reading again. The problem is that when I was reading them at the time, it was 1993 to 1995 and technology has come a long way since. I will buy an annual here and there, but I need some help. What do you use for reading titles? Are you old school with books or is there a subscription? I want to start with Marvel Zombies and work my way on up to Krakoa, but I don’t want to spend too much on titles like I used to. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thank you so much,

    Mizzbarnes

Hi Y’all, Felix here. Excited for the new episode but just to jump on a couple of things mentioned this episode. After seeing how good the live action one piece ended up being I’m really excited to see how they handle Naruto. I can’t help but feel it would be better served as a show but if we’re doing movies I hope they don’t do too much at the start. You can get a solid movie outta he zabuza arc at the start then expand as you go on.

Secondly, unlike some I’m fine with Nintendo taking some extra time to work on the new switch. I’ve only had my switch for a year and a half so that’s fine by me lol.

Gonna keep it brief now but all I’m gonna say is man do I hope the seasons of X-Men 97 without the show runner are as good as this. Bro was cooking some gourmet level shit with this I hope he doesn’t turn out to be some creep bruh.

And lastly, now that it’s finally out. I’m extremely happy with the netflix adaptation of 3 Body Problem. At first I was extremely skeptical like a lot of other book readers but after having watched it 3 times and on my 4th watch through I’m seeing the vision. They laid so much groundwork for future seasons to just flow from banger storyline to banger storyline. I hope you guys also gave it a shot. Some of the best sci-fi of this generation and I was a huge The Expanse Stan. Alright, can’t wait for the episode, love y’all, Felix out.

Hello Rod, Karen & esteemed guests.

Whew, God damn, won’t Marvel do it. X-Men ’97 is amazing. More importantly, X-Men as an entire animated series is pretty great (well, except for that mostly slapped copy-and-paste 5th season. Terrible animation.). I was never truly a viewer of the series like I thought I was growing up, especially being of the era where Batman: The Animated Series, Spider-Man, Superman:TAS & other strongly written cartoon programming was taking center stage. While Batman was able to power through most of FOX Kids’s standards & practice nonsense (examples: certain depictions of violence were toned down, “kill” was exchanged for “destroy”) during its five year run on the network before getting more leeway on Kids WB (Over The Edge would NEVER have happened on FOX Kids, for example), X-Men had certain challenges with how fights were performed but the storytelling is great. I just completed watching all five seasons & how the creators & voice talent were able to depict social issues in that tight ass box, is nothing short of remarkable. Seeing Creed Jr. tell Jubilee that she shouldn’t have been born or how Villains like Magneto & Apocalypse had such gravitas is crazy. Had a fun time with that but X-Men ’97 just takes it to a whole new level that allows for more chances on a platform with less restrictions. X-Men is unapologetically “mutant & proud” & the latest episodes are front & center why.

I watched the latest Road House film & uh, I thought it was fucking bad. Poorly stylized, choreographed & boring characters. I’m not saying it should’ve been like the otherwise superior original but Jake Gyllenhaal is sleepwalking as this version of Dalton & it’s not interesting in the least. Fucking Conor’s role doesn’t work, either. Shit was directed by Doug Liman, who’s done better work throughout his career, this wasn’t one of them.

Still on that pressure cleaning sim narcotic, doing a Ferris Wheel. Shit’s pretty challenging. I did get a Gnome achievement, which was dope. I also played a little bit of Street Fighter 6. Yeah, it’s fucking lit & I don’t really like SF that much, but I’m sold. Wanna get better. Peace, y’all.

There has been a Death Note Musical, and I hear that they may have made one in English as well…

  8. thenefariousone

I’m definitely one of those “Korra is better than Avatar” peoples, especially the more I learned about how much the creators had to fight uphill both ways in the snow to realize the show.

First time I heard that guy in the park preaching “Are you tired of living under the tyranny of benders?” I knew something special was about to start.

Put some respect on Amon’s name, the only undefeated villian in the entire universe.
