Hey Rod, Karen, and Justin,
It was cool to hear how PO/Sick Time and Overtime works in NC. Out here in Cali, Sick time is mandated by state law, which I believe is 40 hours for all workers, hourly or salary. Those hours are separate from the PTO/Vacation hours a job can offer you.
For overtime the state rule is that any hours worked over 8 in one day or 40 in a week is overtime. If on any day you work beyond 12 hours those hours are at double time (8hrs RT, 4hrs OT, anything else is DT). And if a job makes you work a seven day week, the seventh day is all OT, and if they make you work an 8th it’s all DT.
They also have a family leave law to deal with maternity leave and taking care of a sick family member. Cali mandated all of this because some employers were abusing the system that previous allowed jobs to make their rules for businesses.
As always thanks for being the best.

As a multidimensional Kang currently in a land of great Bier (Germany) watching black kids kick soccer for free this Sunday morning (unlike in America where you got pay, they just free roaming like the rest of the world. Oh so beautiful to see and reminds me of childhood minus the cold). I say all this to say, treat yourselves Rod, Karen, and Sheriff Justin. If my check had cleared, I’ll fly you all out here. Until then, take the necessary breaks. Until I get back to America.
MUSTAAAAAAAAARD!
I can’t stop saying that now at random moments. Oh btw it’s amazing & hilarious what you learn from sharing clips on the SM hahaha
