What it do Rod, Karen and Jobert Griffin III,
I hope all is well.
As Ryan Clark read Frosty the Snow Bunny Man for filth in the fake ambiguous manner of whether “per my last email” is spiritually followed by “you ignorant fuck”, it was clear even before he said it that Clark been couldn’t Robert ass. The soft shoe circuit is crowded and Robert falls short against his peers; he don’t speak with the shameless caucasity chasing conviction of Enamel Acho; y’all read Robert’s bullshit statement on the regular show and it was rife with tense shifts and repetitive words usage that screams he can’t even write as good as Whitlock. Rob Parker was a damn prophet about Griffin.
Who y’all got for Game 6? I *want* the Knicks to win but I also am curious how Indy would match up with OKC and would probably make for a more competitive match up against OKC since it’d probably be harder for OKC to guard Haliburton than it would be Jalen Brunson (he’s a little guy) and KAT (sometimes he just be doing shit).
Congrats to Tony Reali and everyone that had been on the Around the Horn. Sports takes with brevity and irreverence made for such a dope show. I’m especially sad it got cancelled cuz it served as a pipeline for getting writers in front of cameras, and I enjoyed hearing about sports in a debate format that’s subjective (per Reali’s whim) and not…whatever SAS and Shannon are screaming about in the morning.
I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and thanks as always for the dope shows!
What up Rod, Karen, and Justin, I agree with your thoughts about Pablo Torre and his obsession with Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson. I’ve seen that he’s been going on other podcasts and talking that there is more to story that he didn’t include in his episode. He’s stated he’s going to have another episode to investigate how the Ring camera video footage was leaked to the media. The video footage is of a shirtless Belichick leaving Hudson’s home.
I think Pablo is trying to make this Belichick storyline his Katt Williams interview with Shannon Sharpe. It’s like he’s chasing the high of the clicks and attention from the public. I know that he and his show are part of Meadowlark Media and the Draft Kings Network. Meadowlark is in a contract year with Draft Kings and Draft Kings have not been renewing shows or media personalities. I wonder if this story is a way for him to get Meadowlark & Draft Kings to keep the show around.
OK, unpopular opinion here, but I don’t think Pablo is doing anything wrong. I think the subject matter is salacious, and the details and visuals are a little gross, but as far as his reporting and choice to do this story — I don’t really find fault with him. I get it, he’s all over the place now, which is not the norm. But I don’t think it’s wrong to capitalize on it. I’ve watched his two in-depth episodes on it, and he does make clear why the story is not just an old guy banging a young girl story. Not only is this the most famous and celebrated NFL coach of our lifetime, he was known for his iron-fisted control and seriousness. He is now acting very out of character. Pablo also noted in the last episode where he exposed the second ring video, that NFL execs knew and this affected Belichick’s ability to secure an NFL job. This may affect him keeping his college job. Pablo does seem to do his research and started as a fact checker at SI. And in this case, he has submitted FOIA/public records request to UNC which they have not complied with. He also went through hours of crowd footage from 2021 to discover and show that Jordan was in Bill’s life way back then. It started as a funny story but may turn out to be a sad story. But I’m not mad at Pablo doing this work.
Doing my part to keep Balls Deep Sports listeners up-to-date on the WNBA race war, by helping to inform as to which teams have the highest concentration of “fan favorites.” I reported last year that Indiana and New York were tied for having the whitest teams in the WNBA. As of opening weekend, the Washington Mystics and the new expansion Golden State Valkyries are tied for the most “coaches on the floor,” each team having six, fully half white.
On the other end of the spectrum, last year the Chicago Sky became the only team in the league with no white players, after trading Marina Mabrey to the Sun. This year, that distinction belongs to the Atlanta Dream, while Chicago is tied with New York, Los Angeles and Minnesota for fourth-most, Angel Reese actually has more white teammates than Caitlyn Clark does, now. So, do you think that the Race War will be able to sustain itself with this imbalance, or will the solution be to create interest in an Atlanta/Washington rivalry?
