I’m so glad 2D gaming is having a renaissance in these wayward times in the industry. I have yet to finish the Shinobi demo (and the game is probably out now, I’ve just been busy with life shit) but what I loved about this current iteration, at least from what I played, is its fluidity. The people that made Streets of Rage 4, Lizardcube, have such a strong love for these games. They add a couple of new mechanics without stripping the bare essentials. I’ll say more as I start to play the game, but with that & Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, it’s a needed time for these.
Rod, I heard your episode of Karen Hunter’s Sirius program about Robocop: Rogue City & as someone who liked it, I absolutely agree with your take on the game. And considering the sequels weren’t necessarily good, by default, it’s a serviceable addition. Same can be said for its latest follow-up with Unfinished Business, which you don’t really need, but if you like shooting bad guys in the nads or performing headshots, it won’t do you wrong.
As for movies, I did see Caught Stealing yesterday & it’s good. Based on a book. It’s probably one of Darren Aronofsky’s least heavy-handed films in quite awhile, if not ever. Plot’s straightforward with Butler’s character having to do something unexpected for a friend & things ensue. Regina King & Austin Butler were standout. In fairness, a lot of the supporting actors had their moments. I’d give it a look in theaters. Call it 3.5/5.
Other than that, everything that’s basically come out during this summer has & it’s been a great summer for the theaters. Anyway, take care, everyone.

Play the ‘Rod was Right’ music because my God, Demon Slayer is so good! I am absolutely kicking myself for starting so late, but then, I can binge all the episodes with no wait. Didn’t think that I could be so invested in the adventures of Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke and Zenitsu, yet, here I am, about to finish The Harshira Training Arc and then, onto the movie.
And why does Zenitsu holler so much???? He’s so loud..smdh.
In addition to Demon Slayer, also watching The Boondocks. It’s so wild how it has aged very well. My favorite episodes are The Killer Kung-Fu Wolf Bitch and the Stinkmeaner episodes. I do remember that there was talk of a reboot recently, and I just needed to know the following:
1. Is Aaron McGruder coming back?
2. Do they have Regina King and Sam Jackson money?
3. Who can replace ( if they dare), John Witherspoon, Charlie Murphy and Ed Asner?
