What it do Rod, Queen Karen and Jhams Charania,

    I hope all is well.

Shams reported that, after talking to Michael Beasley’s lawyer, Beasley was off the hook for the federal gambling investigation. And the only problem is that other journalists using the same press release got Beasley’s lawyer to admit that actually, Beasley’s lawyer still does not know if Beasley will be charged with a crime, which sounds like he’s still on the hook! And that investigation into Rozier that Shams said Rozier was cleared of like 2 months ago? That was just the NBA independent investigation, not the *federal* investigation. Mistakes happen, but in light of the NFL and a sportsbook both buying stakes in ESPN, I don’t like the look of this.

Why are folks so invested in Sheduer Sander’s as a QB prospect despite knowing he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns? The cise particle accelerator the Sheduer hive mixing with the Browns fandom has me wondering what I’m missing here. I thought there’d be a collective “Wait, the Browns are sorry” realization but instead we got folks saying the offensive line and coaching staff was sabotaging Sheduer. Meanwhile, Sheduer held the ball long enough to illustrate *why* sacks are a QB stat in the first place.

Hey Rod, your girl Tay Tay got Travis Kelce to put a ring on it! Congrats to them!

I hope y’all have a wonderful long weekend and thanks as always for the dope, funny and insightful shows throughout the week.

    Peace,

    Dough

Have y’all peeped the run that the Aces have been on? They done went from ninth place to third in three weeks. I don’t watch football, but I remember hearing stories about when Tim Tebow was in college, and he supposedly stood up in the locker room after a loss and promised his team that they wouldn’t lose another game… and then, they didn’t. I feel like the Aces are on that kind of time right now: Minnesota whipped they asses so bad three weeks ago, it’s like A’ja stood up and said, “We ain’t losing no more!”

Napheesa Collier has been the front runner for MVP all season long, but the Aces have a shot at running the table, and that would have to put A’ja in the lead, in my opinion. Also, let me just shout out Allisha Gray right quick: a lot of people have been showing love for A’ja, Phee and even triple-double machine Alyssa Thomas, all season long, but Allisha Gray has quietly been the best player on the second-best team in the league, all season long, while averaging career numbers across the board. MVP might be a toss-up but as far as All-WNBA First Team, to borrow a Cam-ism, you can go ahead and ink it in gold.

Congrats to Cam Newton on landing that ESPN First Take gig. What in the hell is going on over there lol! Molly should be played double. Between Stephen A. bloviating and Cam mixing metaphors, we will be hard-pressed to actually hear some sports talk. I just pray that they don’t start giving dating advice. What do you see happening next? Do you see athlete podcasts/YouTube shows blowing up even more with the hopes of migrating to the networks? Funny because the traditional sports journalists are all moving to YouTube now – a total trading places.

Anyway it was a big weekend in for LA basketball fans. August 23rd is Kobe’s birthday and August 24 is 8 and 24, so also Kobe Day. Yes, we celebrate. A local sports account asked who is the Face of LA sports and the answer for current players is Ohtani, but the real answer is still Kobe. I have never seen a city identify with an athlete more. I think of Jeter with NY also. Is there a comp for Charlotte or Carolina? Like when you think Carolina or Charlotte sports you think of him? Is it Jordan? Cam? I feel like it would be more someone of the status of Dell Curry, a local guy.

Thanks for getting through the summer drought and making the shows fun!
