I guess there is kind of an online community that exists parallel to or predates TBGWT, and because my twitter feed was curated for Black American-centric Democratic politics I followed or was mutuals with some people who were TBGWT listeners before I discovered the podcast itself. Coqui was one of those people so when you said she was a “literal day 1” I thought “ah yeah that checks out.” She had a really sharp mind, and at some point during peak COVID times she saw one of my tweets where I was venting about so many people falling for misinformation and just plain old bullshit with regard to vaccines and the virus itself (how we ended up with RFK Jr.) and she DM’d me to offer advice on things to show skeptics and the people I was venting about. My thought was “there’s no way this is actually going to help me get through to them because the issue isn’t a lack of credible information” but I also thought it was very admirable that she chose to spend her energy this way and hadn’t given in to cynicism. She was a good egg and it’s sad she’s no longer with us because the world needs more people with that mindset.
Goodbye Coqui, you are missed.
I was so sad to learn of the passing of Coqui. I only knew her through this podcast but I remember her covid episode and a couple other episodes she was on and I remember interacting with her in the chat room a few times. She was intelligent and seemed really sweet and funny. She touched so many people.
I just wanted to thank y’all for the wonderful remembrance of my friend Coqui. I know she would have enjoyed hearing the kind words and genuine feelings. Thank you both for creating such a wonderful community that brings so many people together to laugh, cry, get our lives to Karen goin’ off, and get mad at missing the obvious context clues in Guess The Race. You all are a bright spot in a very dark time in a very dark place. Thank you.

Thanks for the community you have curated. It really matters and makes a difference. There’s a distinction between needing to be in an echo chamber of like-minded folks, and hearing voices of kindness, humor and intelligence speaking truth to what is actually happening all around us and yall continue to be a touchpoint of staying grounded in this wild world.

All the talk about who will be the candidate in 3 years now is a distraction.
Do you remember that DT didn’t even participate in the republican candidate show and was the candidate in the end anyway?
