Had a difficult time getting pass the piss-poor lighting (I tried putting it on the highest lighting setup on my phone to no avail) but when I could see The Bluff, it’s a well-executed concept, with the twist of the heroine being captain & what a fighter this captain is. After the basura that was ABGO (The Russo Bros’s film studio) The Electric State, they needed a win as badly as the Washington Wizards & while I wouldn’t call this an “absolute win” a la Smart Hulk from Avengers: Endgame, it’s not a complete loss, either. We get Priyanka Jonas vs. Karl Urban duking it out like it’s the Source Awards (h/t Bomani Jones from his old SB Nation series “Bomani & Jones” comparing Jeff Gordon & Clint Bowyer fighting in 2012) & it put a smile on my face, mostly enough. Definitely could’ve benefitted from more gaffer work with better cinematography. Then again, Scream 7 exists, so i’ve seen much worse in 2026. This is completely fine.
