Oooh, your discussion of Drew Brees and the NFL shitshow was amazing. Right after I listened to this podcast I listened to It Could Happen Hear talking about the NFL Player’s Association and how Drew Brees and that Inflategate bozo led the charge to decrease entry salaries for rookies which resulted in balooning QB salaries for a few, but overall a decrease in player salaries. Great juxtaposition of episodes, and Fuck Drew Brees and the Inflategate bozo (I know he helped TB get a SB, but that doesn’t mean I have to like his punk ass).
Joel talked about “maintaining social mores”, but I think that we need to shift social mores. As they are, the way social mores are set up in the US, if you are a mediocre hwite man, they are great for you, but a more equality-focused implementation of social mores would improve social cohesion in the long run.
I enjoyed this episode. I think one of the reasons why the episodes when you interview people are so good is because they don’t feel like interviews. It feels like I’m listening in on friends having a conversation so it feels so natural. Bring Joel back sometime because I think he’d be down for some of the segments especially guess the race.
Excellent conversation, I enjoyed how the Jay Z part went. Once again you showed why every podcast can’t have my loving. I love that line you dropped about people being mad at only the billionaires they don’t like (I paraphrased) it’s kinda a selective thing. Joe Biden had on the table not only them 1% paying more in taxes but also a global tax. I didn’t see any crowd on tweeter or wherever on it. But I know that a bunch of countries that where quick to shout “cease fire or free Gaza ” later when convenient clutched their pearls at that proposal when he brought it up. Just like they did at his first UN address where he asked for a permanent seat on the Security Council for Africa, the Caribbean and South America (Ezra Klein got amnesia). There’s a saying where I grew up “what you’re looking for far away is always right in front of you (I translated it to spare Rod).
Looking forward to Joel’s return. Solid stuff! I did cackle at the Nick Fuentes bit, any of that ilk tries to sneak on feed and the speed with which my fingers activate. Even if I’m dozing off… we don’t do that here!
Amazing episode! Joel fit right in to the dynamic, even when y’all disagreed. I really enjoyed his seasons of Slow Burn but it’s so nice to hear him be more unscripted and relaxed with y’all. He seems like he would also be a great guest for Balls Deep one day.
Five Stars for the entire episode! Please add Joel D. Anderson to the TBGWT rotation.
Agreed!! 10/10 episode, one of my favorites of the year.
Right wing provocateurs become more important because people keep clicking on their content, so they produce more of it. Not the other way around.
All in the name of being” informed” . Hateful content isn’t information, it’s toxic and will effect people, no matter what they think. The most outrageous person gets the most attention. This is how we got DT.. And I blame the media. The hate has become business and clicks, this is more now than before when there was only Fox News. Do you remember the undecided voters every time? No information. They can’t ignore the cat nip of trump saying “ I don’t care if this guy dies” . And the circle of outrage and clicks continues.
