Surprising thing about Germany, ice cream from shops it pretty great and almost exclusively Italian.
Last time I went to the states I went to Olson’s Ice Cream in my home town. It is an amazing shop and they make their own ice cream with milk from their own farm. They have a lot of flavours too, and I was really interested in one, but Licorice ice cream is really hard to get the right balance between vanilla, licorice, and overall sweetness. So I asked for a sample. That was before the pandemic and I don’t think I’ve asked for a sample since (sometimes Baskin Robbins will shove a sample of a new flavour in my face, and who am I to say no), but yah, some of us only do the samples to check if they are what we are looking for.
I’m that person who asks for several samples before I make up my mind and I usually end up settling on the same flavor. Sorry not sorry. That being said, Karen I’m so glad you mentioned that you don’t care for butter pecan. I don’t either and I’ve always been made to feel like I’m a weirdo for not liking it. I get that racism plays a big part as to why it’s so popular with black people but it’s just not for me. While I’m confessing to my other black food dislikes, I don’t like collard greens or mustard greens. Yuck. Does that mean my black card gets revoked?
I clocked who you were talking about right away when you said you weren’t going to say her name about regarding her controversial opinions and then playing victim when called out. I used to want to stand defend her as a fellow black woman but she makes it so hard. Nothing is ever her fault when so many people have a problem with just one person it’s probably that person. Honestly, I view her in the same lens as Candice Owens, both insufferable.

Also, whoever thought pistachio ice cream was a good idea should have to pay $10,000 to everyone who has ever gotten sick off of tasting that carp!
Look, now it costs $10+ for 2 scoops in a waffle bowl at some of these spots. I need to know EXACTLY which 2 flavors I want the most, because after paying for the kids plus mine, I definitely feel like I broke myself. So put me in the quality control camp, cause I ain’t paying $20 to get more flavors!
I had a friend back in my 20s who was super broke and used to abuse the power of the free ice cream sample. I had to admire her for scamming her way into free ice cream, but I think it’s made me paranoid to ask for more than one sample at a time. So for me, it’s a quality check if some flavor that seems borderline good will be worth trying over something I know for sure is good.
Karen – you’re telling me that you, who’s been calling herself an old Black woman for the last decade, don’t favor butter pecan ice cream, the supreme and most high of the ice cream flavors that old Black women prefer? I find that hard to believe!
