What a silly ass film this was. Saw it at one of AMC’s Screen Unseen’s for half the price. Anyway, having sat through John Woo’s boring & meandering Silent Night, I had trepidation this would fall short to this gimmick that Silent Night performer, but Motor City’s just outright a better film than the aforementioned one.
Definitely has more personality with Ben Foster being the obvious villain & Alan Ritchson does good work with little words. Then again, that’s the whole film. Shaliene Woodley’s pretty good. Smokin’, even. Big props to her wardrobe & costume department (hated she got permanently fridged before act 3 but it is what it is).
Pablo Schriber is more intense than a bull here & his physicality with Ritchson in that elevator was nuts. Whole act is intense. Good shootouts, good direction, lots of grit.
And the ending is smiletastic with both 40ish year old dudes in real-life, playing old dudes, many years later with impressive but still laughable makeup. It felt like a skit it was so ridiculous.
“I loved her” vs. “Still do”. *BANG*
