Y’all remember when that white woman made those various faces conveying interest, bitterness, sarcasm & “idk, maybe”? That was my experience with the Surprisingly good By Any Means. A movie I didn’t know we needed, but I’m glad exists. In however this thing was done during pre-production, would I in my right mind would cast Mark Wahlberg, but he commits to this British, but still racist Italian-American with a bigger killing average than Mickey Mantel. Yahya Abdul Mateen II’s pretty good as Wayne Strider & Giancarlo Esposito, albeit in a limited capacity was a highlight. I don’t necessarily have the words to speak upon the controversy but I’m glad this movie exists, as it shows that black people weren’t “passive” as often betrayed in Movies & TV. Our ability to fight back is as important as voting is in this country. I even liked that back & forth between Mark & Yahya.
Y’all, I’m still making them faces like Brittany Broski. This is a good one.
