As a Pennsylvania resident, I am truly annoyed about measles making a comeback when it’s a completely preventable disease. But as far as it being the Amish community being responsible for the outbreak they do actually get vaccinated. There’s no doctrine in their religion that would prevent them from getting the vaccinations. Thats a household choice for them. If that was the case Ohio would have as big a problem because that state has the second largest Amish population in this country after PA. Mind you, there are plenty of things you can blame on the Amish like the puppy mills, the high rates of domestic violence and their outright scamming but not the measles outbreak.
Nope the blame falls mainly on these RFK sycophants who have “done their research” and refuse to get their kids vaccinated because they’re afraid of autism. I fucking hate it here.
In Japan we’ve had outbreaks since 2007 due to a poorly reasoned anti-vax litigation case in Tokyo in 1992. Basically the “judge” came to the conclusion that the plaintiffs did not have to prove that a negative outcome was tied to a vaccine, it just had to be reasonably possible that there was a chance that it was an adverse effect of the vax.
This led to a 20-year vaccination gap that subsequently led to several Measles outbreaks. Fortunately, in two years we will be 18 years past the gap, which should mean that there will be no more measles outbreaks.
That being said, it took some series disease outbreaks followed by several years of dilly-dallying before people came to their senses. But look at the bright side! Maybe in three or four decades America will have eliminated Measles… again…
The racial variety of the perpetrators with the beef sticks reminds me of Neapolitan combination of gang members in animated shows- in Justice League from about 25 years ago, gangs had 3 men- a chocolate, a caramel and a vanilla. On Gargoyles, which I watched with my son recently, there was an episode where a pack of wolves had 3 members- a black furred one, a brown and a gray.
Cutting Student Lohns for some stuff might be accidentally honest about who can afford to study something like art. Kids of rich people only. They can create and will also find customers for for example their paintings, like Madonna’s son or so, no matter if they are good or not.
It also feeds into the myth that the only reason people should go to college or university (or grad school) is for financial gain, rather than education. There needs to be more emphasis on the value of expanding knowledge and less emphasis on inflating the pocketbooks of the ultra-wealthy…
Another reason they target nurses, teachers and social workers with the student loan policy: these are also the people who show up at school board meetings, city council meetings, etc to explain why xyz conservative policy is terrible and how it will mess up the lives of the people they work with every day
