I’ve heard people compare the cultural background of TWD (Small town/country) and FearTWD (city), and how it reflects in their decisions. In FearTWD, there’s been a general distrust of anyone outside immediate friends/family, like how they treat Strand or didn’t warn their neighbors, while TWD tended to trust in the kindness of strangers, until it burned them out.
And now we’re entering this other culture, which has a particular acceptance of death. I think that Thomas only got bit in the arm, which he could have survived with an amputation if they thought to try. Maybe it’s too soon and that desperation to keep people alive hasn’t caught up yet. I honestly think that the way Celia works, she didn’t see a point in fighting against it, because it wasn’t that Thomas was going to die really.
