Stop crying or I will give you something to cry about is another black mama favorite. I vowed I’d never say that to my child, and a few weeks ago it spilled out of my mouth. Damn, I think it’s just something in our DNA.
My mom would ask if I had McDonald’s money like all Black mamas. I spent a lot of my childhood looking for someone named ‘Lit’, but never found him.
