I saw Issa’s post show recap the other night, and she mentioned that it was funny how everyone had all these thoughts about Tiffany and Derek, when in reality, they were supposed to represent the couple that had been through challenges and come out the other side. What do y’all think about that idea?
My initial thought is that they are the “image” of secure people as written by people still trying to figure things out. That’s why they look so extra to everyone else. Or, as with everything else, they are just another set of avatars that people have latched onto.

Hey Rod and Bassey!
I loved this finale! As of right now I don’t know if HBO gave them the green light for a season 3. I really hope they do. But I was satisfied with this ending. Of course I have LOTS of questions. But it didn’t make me feel empty inside, angry, or sad like the first season.
1. How much time, between Issas party and the marathon, has gone by? Tiffany is a pretty thin woman and she’s already showing! Plus I’m pretty sure she was drinking at the birthday party so she didn’t know yet (I hope). She looked 5 or 6 months pregnant.
2. Do you think Daniel let Issa stay at his place because he felt guilty? I was super surprised that she ended up there. You’d rather be at his place than your brothers? I don’t think she’ll be able to handle it. If there is a season 3, I hope we see Issa couch surfing from friend to friend until she ends up at Lawerance’s place.
3. Do you think that they are setting it up for Issa and Lawerance to eventually get back together? Because Omg Issa totally tricked me with that flash forward scene! Not until she broke the 4th wall and looked directly at the camera did I realize it was all in her head. Because when Lawerance got on one knee I screamed “What the hell!!!!”
4. I was rooting for you Molly!!! Or maybe I was just rooting for Quentin? I thought she’d continue to get some loving from Quentin the Heavy Duty Cutie for a little while longer. I actually hope Dru’s wife doesn’t know that it’s Molly and he’s breaking the “no one we both know” rule. Plus who do you think she’ll go with job wise? Is Dro showing back up mean she’s going to tough it out in LA just to stay close to him?!?!
Well that’s pretty much it. I can’t wait to see what type of mom they’re going to make Tiffany be. It’s probably going to be super annoying . I actually don’t care what happens to Lawerance. He’s just so annoying to me right now. #teammakebetterdecisions
Thank you so much for doing these recaps

Hey, first time writer etc etc
I wanted to bring up one idea regarding this season of Insecure, regarding Issa’s work environment. One thing that no one touched on regarding Principal Kanye – er Gaines, is that Issa’s job may be more precarious than her peers. In S1, she was having “are you sure you want to work here” conversations with the boss.
I say all this to bring up – I think Issa always had a problem with Gaines & his racism, but wanted to have a “win” at work more than cause a stir. The show has been pretty obvious in how it shows her dire financial situation. That does not make what she was willing to accept OK, just a different reason than “no black folks can be racist”.
Thanks for making this show, I’m looking forward to hearing you & Bassey cover S3!

I rarely comment but I’ve been moved to by this show.
Dro, Tiffany, Derek, and Issa are cheaters; they deserve everlasting misery. Fuck ’em.
Lawrence and Molly shouldn’t date people. At all.
Daniel and Tiffany are just execrable people. Apurna is close.
Tasha was cool. Kelly is ok. Candice can do better.
Drinks: I’ve always been a fan of vodka tonics, but I also make up for frequency with volume.
As always, you and Bassey’s reviews are delightful and I look forward to them.

I didn’t know how much I needed this review!
Sorry, this is long.
It was sooooooo good. The episode. Y’alls review. Who knows what a tom collins is? LOL. I only drink fruity beers that don’t taste like beer!
I related to both Issa & Lawrence. I swear me and Bassey. Except trying to be sexy. Certain things I do not try. lol
Freda……and Rod……and me. I just get tired of being mad. I hate feeling burdened with a grudge. I, too. wish I could take that trait out of my body.
Does Dro really consider Molly his friend? He should know her so well that he would know that what he is doing would be so detrimental to her emotionally. Taking advantage of his friend? wow. Trash.
Thoughts on that party. I understand that Lawrence is friends with the husband in that couple no one likes. In real life…….when a couple breaks up and you are only friends with the group through a couple there are considerations to be had. Lawrence was only friends with this group through Issa, to show up with a date is ridiculous. It comes off as spiteful. Even though it may have been slightly spiteful I don’t believe he was doing it to hurt Issa. He needed support and didn’t consider what that dynamic would be. But for real, they know how extra Tiffany is and he should have received a dress code so that all denim everything matchy outfit situation is not forgivable. He also didn’t consider how it would be so awkward for Aparna. He is insecure and inconsiderate.
Issa is just……ughhh. Y’all called it with that spot on the ceiling. It must suck that she is having all these financial woes with no one to help her out after she put in those years supporting Lawrence and seemingly (in her mind but in reality she made many mistakes in their relationship) made one mistake and now he has his money together and is out. I too wondered what she meant by with “her” ? I liked Tasha. I think she thought something was going on with her and Lawrence before they broke up. Like meeting for lunch in the food court. It is mighty easy to be supportive when you are fresh and not worn down by 2 years of living with someone who is unemployed and depressed. BUT Issa doesn’t appear to be someone who said hey you seem like you need some help or expressed how she was in relationship fatigue from him being unemployed. Basically, she didn’t use her words.
Daniel. with his funny lookin’ cute self just didn’t know what to say.
I hope Aparna has the good sense to be like…..Lawrence has some unresolved issues so I’m going to stalk and then call Yasmin “Michael” Bey from the coffee shop instead.
And Tiffany. Lord. Anyone who says I just love my man in front of people is severely insecure.
Finally, more Kelly, please. She improves her lines! genius!
Sorry, this was so long, but I truly appreciate all the feels yall have. I think I may be an empath too…….I need to research that! hope you enjoyed your break Rod. Bassey, stay awesome.

Dear Rod and Bassey-
This looks long, but you’ll know where to stop .
The most recent This Too Much had me feeling nostalgic for the tip-filled years I was a bartender, because I love, love, LOVED when somebody didn’t know what to order. It was like getting paid to do a makeover. I’ll enclose some of my favorite recipes so you can consider some new, fancy drinks next time you’re at a not-too-busy bar. I promise, they’re tried and true; let me know if you want the liquid volumes.
Also, I wanted to give you a great rock song for when you need a “nigga, git yo crusty ass in that shower so we can save the got damn world” jam, because I get my whole life when I play it. Warriors by Game Rebellion makes me want to punch my own mama directly in the mouth, and also get to work on time. It’s the happiest angry you’ll hear all day.
Thanks for all y’all do; please keep up the good. Auntie Kay Kay, you’re too cool for us, but I aspire.

Rod and Bassey, when you guys decided to start doing the Insecure recaps you literally made my YEAR! I loved listening to you both during This Too Much and this is just as awesome. Insecure is soooo good and watching that fight between Issa and Lawrence last week *I* actually felt hurt. Plus I live in L.A. so Insecure has hipped me to so many cool spots in my own backyard (turns out Kiss N Grind is a real event– where have I been???). Fun fact: this Curbed LA site (https://la.curbed.com/maps/insecure-hbo-show-season-2-filming-locations) shows you where some of the cool locations from the show are in L.A. Why do I want to hop in my car and just hit them all on some “Insecure Tour Ish”??? LOL.
Anyway, just wanted to share and say THANK YOU for adding Insecure to your recap arsenal. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about the finale next week.

When Rod was talking about how men need to demand better for themselves, I seemed to recall some VERY firm mottos of “no wedding, no bedding!” and “no mattress, no money!” I think you need to remind the masses. Lol
