I was really hoping y’all would play one of Jojo’s bops just so I could hear it again… and y’all did! Haha. I lived for her for a hot minute in my teens She was like 14-17 when she was on top… I had just thought she was another child star that fizzled out.
On a related note: the juxtaposition of the outrage/sadness I felt during the first section discussing the Ida and the most recent shooting, in comparison to the annoyance I felt about Jojo, Taylor and ‘em being dogged out by their labels is what makes White People News art!
Even at its worst, white peoples problems are nothing compared to our pain and struggles.

I listened to this episode on Thursday and this has been how my week has gone:
1. Hear the story of Ahmoud Arbery then get to watch the video go up and down the TL.
2. Watch the salon owner in Texas get sent to jail by a Black judge, the governor and legislature gets her dumb ass out of jail and get $300 grand in a GoFundMe.
3. See a story of two Latinas in Texas who stayed in jail for violating the stay-at-home order.
4. Watch the DOJ drop charges against a man who plead guilty to a crime he committed.
5. Watch as the president doesn’t give one fuck that people are dying of The Rona.
I really could go on, but I won’t. My point is, I am in a state of rage and sadness at the same time. If people don’t think that my 5 points aren’t related, they are. If you want to have a prosecutor to be president because she was a ‘cop’, this is related. If you are just shrug as people are dying in these streets while White folks refuse to put on a mask and boycott Costco, this is related. The president is embodiment of White Supremacy and he doesn’t give a damn about Black and Brown folks dying, this too is related. White folks are losing their minds because they don’t want to stay home and have to keep themselves and others protected. They couldn’t be Black for a week and live with the restrictions that we face.
So I have rage about us dying, White people doing the most in these streets and people online still crying “earn this vote or lose.” Still…in 2020. The dynamics of being Black in this country is a lot. And that makes me sad.

My comment is light-hearted. That Kate Beckinsale is middle-aged cougar goals. She stay with young dick and I’m not mad at her. She’s also fine AF. When you’re an unproblematic white person that uses sunscreen.
Sitting here listening to the first thirty minutes of this episode and I am just tired. Tired of innocent black and brown people dying because certain folks are in their feelings. My father and brother both have guns and I am pretty sure that neither one of them would use them to protest the re-opening of their individual states (AL and TX).
I am thankful for the life and works of Ida B Wells Barnett and many others who advocate in our communities. Everytime I go for my food/shopping runs with my mask, I wonder who looks at me sideways as a black woman because of their ignorance/prejudice against me because I am black and a woman, with a mask, minding my own black business. #MakesmeWannaHolla
