    Hello Rod, Karen and Justin,

Hopefully this finds you all well.

The television season is in full swing. Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm (damnit Larry, his name is Angel-Muffin). The Flash back for its final season.

I watched the Colin Kaepernick series on Netflix. It was interesting to see things from his perspective as a bi-racial child raised by a white family in a white community. Seeing his journey to discover and connect with the Blackness his well-intentioned (but typically in denial about the scourge of racism as they battled their own anti-Blackness) parents could not provide him speaks volumes about how he came to be the Kaepernick reviled by the NFL.

I am also watching season 2 of the documentary series “While the Rest of Us Die” on Vice (they have some really good documentaries), so when Kaepernick mentioned Quicken Loan, which was looked at in the documentary, it felt like synergy. Netflix’s new animated series, Inside Job, is pretty good as well. It is a reflection of so much of American society.

Surprisingly, I am really enjoy the reboot of The Wonder Years with Dule Hill and Queens with Brandy and Eve on ABC.

I thoroughly enjoyed Only Murderers in the Building on Hulu. Roy Wood Jr. appeared in an episode, and Steve Martin and Martin Short shined throughout.

I am looking forward to the next shows to drop on Disney+ as well.

Hello Karen, rod and Justin. The last time I wrote you guys, I think I forgot to say hello to Karen, if I did, I wanna apologize. Now that that’s out the way, I have a few things to talk to you guys about. So, if remember correctly, Azealia Banks and Dave Chapelle used to smash. I got to thinking, can you imagine the transphobic hellspawn that could have came out of this God for saken relationship? They would have immediately made that harry Potter lady godmother! And have you guys watched “reservation dogs” on hulu? A show about native American teens trying to leave their Oklahoma reservation for California? The episode s were 30 to 40 minutes, a quick watch. I thought it was a great show but I heard some people compare it to Atlanta. These are 2 completely different shows in my opinion but it is a good show. Speaking of fx/hulu, that “Y the last man “is an awesome show as well. The most recent episode, “Victoria ” was the best one so far I think. It’s a damn shame they’re canceling it. Hopefully some other streaming service will snatch it up. Alright y’all. Have a great weekend

    Hi Rod, Karen, and Justin,

Last week you talked about the Monica Lewinsky-Bill Clinton series, running, and big dicks, and I happened upon a Google images search that I believe encapsulates all three. Do a search for “Bill Clinton running”. This guy…have we ever had a President expose his upper thighs so gleefully? Sheesh Bill.

    Keep up the good work!

Hey Rod, Karen, and Jyrie irving

I think it was Rod who said not too long ago that folks liked Colin Kaepernick because he doesn’t speak too much. Well him and Ava with that damn Tv show done ruined it for my guy. Folks are out here roasting his ass HARD on these twitter streets. I think he really pissed off both the wokes and the right wing folks by comparing the NFL combine to slavery. We shall see if folks stick on to their dislike or nah. I didnt think the show was that bad, I think yall would enjoy it. I do think it can be a little heavy handed at times, but overall an interesting watch.

So many times Rod, it’s like you’re in my head. What you said about Edie Falco’s portrayal of Hillary Clinton in Impeachment -spot on. Also, I’ve said innumerable times that Hillary Clinton was the most qualified presidential candidate in history. Then you say the exact same thing. And I second Justin’s review of Maid-very good, realistic watch of navigating poverty in our country with family’s dealing with mental illness and abuse.

    Hey Rod, Karen &Justin

Amen, Amen, Amen you guys , I just had to come in and say that about the conversations you all just had about the sorority/ fraternity Insecure situation and the comments from the lady named Dominique about black art and black trauma.

It’s really sad that some people got so upset about seeing their sorority paraphernalia on Insecure . It’s wild how some folks let that fraternity/ sorority stuff go to their heads – first of all ,yall asses are not truly Black Greek’s unless you’re related to Giannis and his family lol.

I grew up with that whole frat/soror lore around me with my dad being a Sigma and mom being a Zeta so I’ve seen it firsthand but once I went to college (PWI) saw that them niggas was on some gang shit beating your ass just to pledge their organization. “I was like yeah this isn’t it for me” . The thing that I couldn’t ever reconcile was how am I supposed to call you my damn frat brother after you have been throat punching me as part of your pledging process. Like nigga I’m going to come to your house and we are going to have a real ass conversation or a real ass fight lol Hopefully people learn to lighten up and not take that stuff too seriously .

Rod thank you for sharing Dominique’s IG post about black art/ black trauma -everything she said was so on point. We do a tremendous disservice to our ancestors when we don’t tell their stories truthfully no matter how they might upset or trigger us. We have no right to deny our ancestors their humanity .

I never forget people backpedaling on what they thought about Lovecraft Country the first time they watched it , then got mad because a certain fictional character gets killed and swear off every watching the rest of it . Then it gets cancelled and then it gets Emmy nomination’s and then in the same breath the same folks claimed they loved it lol. It’s insane the flip flopping people do on black art depending on whether or not they like the person . Also with this issue I hope black audiences come around and realize it’s better tell the truth and let humanity prevail than to lie and deny it.

Thanks again Rod, Karen & Justin

    Hi, Rod, Karen & Justin

I’m listening to this week’s pregame and had to stop with 40 minutes left in the Game. Because….the conversations around the Insecure AKA debacle and the Twitterfication of criticism against Black art have me internally praise dancing .

Agree agree agree agree! With what y’all have been saying about those topics. I have watched these niggas flip flop over the last 6-7 years. When it was fewer Black programming to consume, the criticism was all about how they’re that’s did exist weren’t ‘Black enough’ in characterization or the story context didn’t resemble a blackness they new. Invariable the ‘Black’ they were looking for was related to traumas and struggles around blackness, particularly the economic kind or explicit encounters with racism and discrimination. Cut to the last few years and it’s STILL not the right blackness because it’s ✌ too much ✌ of the very thing they said was missing only several years before. Now they’re can’t be ANY trauma or it’s exploitative and triggering. Which reminds me of a thing I like to say…

A lot of niggas online have so many words
    All the information
And NONE of the goddamn knowledge

And most do not know the difference between the two, which is why we have an incessant permutation of the same academic words sprinkled throughout their online missives. (As an aside I predict that people’s new favourite academic term, parasocial relationships, will be ruined and rampantly misused by March 2022. But that’s my observational cynicism).

As you said, many of these people do not know what it is they want, only that with which they are dissatisfied. And then call that dissatisfaction ‘critique’. It really grinds my gears .

But if I’m being empathetic, I think many people are overstimulated from all this consumption because they gorge themselves on it everyday. Not just narrative content but other people’s thoughts. They have little space inside themselves to truly enjoy things because they are just taking in too much!

Well, I’ll go. I just wanted to chime in with those thoughts.

Love y’all and love the show.

    Be well,
    Katrina / @number1feeling
