Hey! It is weird that if you play any type of team sports you get thrown in with people you would not normally fuck with. You guys mentioned last week how at the Y there is one guy Justin will sit out his turn if he has to be on that guy’s team. If you don’t mind…how did it get to that point? And Rod, is it a weird vibe for everyone else? I ask because I am experiencing this in my running group. I’ve used the indirect methods to not have to run with this person but it’s not always working. I also wonder if I’m making too big a deal of why I don’t like her and don’t want to rock the team dynamic. Thanks for any feedback.

    Dear Rod
Hey! I know you said you’re not trying to be people’s fitness inspiration, but I also like hearing about the steps you’re going through to get healthy. I have type 2 diabetes, and it was very isolating when I was first diagnosed. I had to re-learn how I eat, how to destress, and how to exercise. Although I’ve been diabetic for close to 15 years, it’s always a process. I have a “medical team” now because diabetes can affect so many aspects of one’s health. I have a nutrionist, a cardiologist, an endocrinologist, an eye doctor and a foot doctor. Some I have to see once a year, some twice a year, and some quarterly. Of course, I also have to take the tools they give me to take care of myself 24/7.

Also, since I got my promotion and changed locations, I decided to join the Y that’s across the street from my library. I don’t have an excuse now. It’s right there and I make a little extra money and I might as well give it a try. I have my first appointment with the physical trainer next week (I guess technically this week when you read this). You and Randolph have been very re-assuring that no one cares about the fat person in the gym. I still have a lot of insecurity about that especially when you’re trying to exercise next to someone who looks like they know what they’re doing (regardless of weight).

    Thanks again for sharing.
