I don’t follow sports that closely but I knew about Caitlyn Clark. I don’t remember this much hype for a white basketball player since Larry Bird. I could be wrong but again I’m not as well versed in basketball as the average fan. I think it’s good for women’s basketball that there’s so much coverage because of Caitlyn but people are understandably upset because the way the media has covered her as opposed to her opponents. I remember last year how they villainized Angel Reese for doing that John cena move that Caitlyn did all season. And this season how she got more coverage than the undefeated SC team. It’s not her fault but the media hasn’t done her any favors in endearing her to a lot of black fans. Hopefully the rookies of this season can do for the WNBA what the Williams sisters did for women’s tennis.
