Howdy Rod, Karen and Janny Ainge,

I hope all is well. Tyrese Haliburton is the goddamn devil. I ain’t have a worry about the Cavs this season til Bomani Jones mentioned how hard it is to win with small guards. And I dismissed it cuz Donovan Mitchell ain’t a 5 foot nothing like Isaiah Thomas. I thought after the Game 3 rally Cleveland could’ve won in 7 and I was wrong as fuck. Goddamnit, Cavs tore through the East Jontay Porter on a parlay and we got fried hard in cheap grease. At least the regular season was a lotta fucking fun and I mean that.

Additionally, I no longer stand by my previous Tyrese Haliburton slander; he made a believer out of me. Granted, I do hope he signs somewhere else when able. Not because of the whole “real players should bounce for major market teams at their first chance”, but cuz of the more principled reason that Indiana doesn’t deserve nice things. Too many people there that like Hali *and* think Hooisers is a great movie? And from the state that produced Bobby Knight? Naw, fuck that. And on the other side of the Eastern bracket, the Southern District of New York was convicting the Boston Celtics on multiple fraud charges *before* Tatum sadly went down.

But on the positives, the Knicks have a real shot at making the Eastern Conference Finals and even the NBA Finals. Shit, last time they were showing out in the playoffs I saw someone in an Allan Houston jersey with matching shoes and hat and I live in Chicago. I do appreciate that all they need is a *chance* and the whole fan base gets active.

Rod, several weeks ago you mentioned that the odds weren’t good for the at least 5 NBA teams that were vocally tanking for one Cooper Flagg. Danny Ainge should be brought up on charges for crimes against basketball at this point after debasing that franchise for *at best* a 14% chance to get the #1 overall draft pick, right? Also, the scores of folks swearing the draft was rigged made me think of your point about the NBA being talked about like the DNC.

I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and thanks as always for the dope shows!

    Peace,

    Dough

Overrate this!! With his clutch playoff performance this year, I do wonder how the Haliburton slander even started. Is it because he’s not what we think of as dominant, or he’s not flashy or super aggressive? He seems to be the easy engine of that team, and now we see how not afraid of the moment he is. Mostly, I really liked him after he posted that funny photo of himself after not playing but still winning a gold medal after the Olympics. I feel like he has a good sense of humor about himself and is easy to coach. Why do you think he was voted most overrated and is found to be so annoying?
Lastly, what is the over/under on Michael Jordan giving out his gambling picks during his new gig as a sideline reporter for NBC?

So after the most abysmal front office move in NBA history, the basketball gods rewarded the Dallas Mavericks with Cooper Flagg??? Potentially giving them yet another hall of fame white boy. But what y’all think? Does Nico Harrison and Dallas still have time to big brain this? I could legitimately see them trying to trade the pick for Giannis. Dallas fans would burn down the stadium, but that honestly would be more logical than the Luka trade.
