I did accept the mission to see both MI: Final Reckoning and Lilo & Stitch. Writing this comment after seeing both, worry not about that cute alien from space it got an ovation from the kids at my theater while Paravai-Kaaran was affected by a lot of onions from the next person.

Back to MI8, when Gabriel died my theater bursted out laughing. A lot of laughs and reactions from the 11am Fri morning crowd at Alamo that I watched with. Add this movie to the number of movies with solid presidents in 2025. She knows a real one. I also felt some kinda way with the death of Luther.

The diversity in this movie even included the Russians, they weren’t represented as only blondes with blue eyes and no Russian sailor was killed. Peter Hegeseth won’t like this movie. Tom Cruise knows why I’m here and he delivered, now did I have to hold a great pee for over 30 minutes? I’ll no longer have a drink during or before a 3hr movie. It felt like I was running along with Mr Cruise. I loved it but goddaaaaaaaaam, I’m out like Lutherrrrr!

Retire the Jersey, Tom. It’s ok, it’s ok.

Think I like this better than Dead Reckoning because there’s an organic finality to this “Reckoning” segment of Mission: Impossible proper. The stuntwork Tom incorporated is some of the series best & I even think Jim Cameron is somewhere shedding a tear for underwater filmmaking. Character moments are as good as ever, even if some of the new ones feel a tad rushed, but I dug it a lot as time has passed after watching it.

    Looks tremendous in IMAX, too.

At this point, if Tom wants to do another one of these, I’ll be there, but I think it’s ok to end this & if he’s willing to give Pom Klementiff & Hayley Atwell a go at these adventures & he becomes the “new” Kittridge, I’m ready for that, as well.

I’m exhausted, but in that, “yeah, they did it” type of vibe. There’s no more story to tell, really. The series peaked from Ghost Protocol to Fallout (which is my favorite in the series) and these last two feel like lengthy, gracious (if occasionally overwrought) sendoffs.

While it’s plot of The Entity being this overwhelming presence doesn’t completely come together for me (it’s not bad, just a bit “try hard” for this series) I do respect the message, for what it’s worth. Humanity has to be the thing that pulls us out of the BS, more or less.

But, yeah, retire the jerseys Michael Jordan-style. You’ve earned your rest, Tom. Nothing wrong with doing new shit, which appears to be the thing for him going forward.
