Man, this just wasn’t for me. Having seen the original animated iteration, really caused this live-action version to be as underwhelming as it is. I even felt it was boring to boot, despite everyone trying their best. Stitch does look pretty nice in live-action, but that’s all I got.
Shout-out for a great review and capturing what me tear up in the theater. I had mentioned previously that the kids all gave this movie an ovation when we saw it on opening night and while I don’t know if the sister’s story resonated with the little ones that I watched with (felt that was a message to the older folks but could be just me). Imagine my surprise to see an article addressing that as “glorifying colonization of Hawaii” I opened article only to see quotes from Twitter and I was out. That’s why I appreciated you bringing up the point Ohana doesn’t mean that Lilo only has her sister as family now, the whole community around her no longer count?
The kid that played Lilo made my whole family’s heart melt. Destroy everything little one (not in my house tho) grade A casting. I love this movie and I love the original. Same as my kid now.
Ohana!
