Rod and Karen banter about confusing drink names, Spotify needs more specific blocks, Oreo flavors, UNO story was fake, selling second-hand stuff, and a smokeless indoor grill. Then they discuss medical debt is back, Letitia James pushes ban on ICE agents wearing mask, Trump admin burns food meant for starving kids, farms are going broke, Inflation going up due to tariffs, ICE subpoenaing landlords for tenant information without judges signatures and Supreme Court lets Trump destroy dept of ed, Who News, Gender Wars and Sword Ratchetness.

Similar to medical debt … NJ Supreme Court ruled that hospitals must provide care to people despite their ability to pay. Hospitals are big mad at this ruling because they’re all “this is unfair! who’s going to pay for this”. They’re all SO CLOSE to getting the point.
AG Leticia James another name that disappears whenever them low info or bad faith actors want to argue about what are Democrats doing and they should just hand over to young people is the solution. The amount of legal wins by that woman is astonishing and at the same time it’s always fascinating to see the same people throw her name in the race for NY State governor, Mayor, and everything. So is she performing or not? Cause they make it sound like only AOC and Mamdani (who nobody knew before he ran a great campaign & won) are the only Democrats functioning in NYS, everyone else is terrible. I just wish that these click hungry media folks would recognize that it’s not a weakness of the Democratic Party to have Leticia James, Jasmine Crockett, Baltimore mayor, Wes Moore, Podcast Cali Gov, Shapiro, Al Sharpton, AOC, Schumer, with Mamdani amongst many under the same umbrella. I’ll take that over MAGA any day, btw I don’t fuck with Democratic Socialists for the role they played in Nov last year, but I like to win over GOP so focus alert IYKYK.
Btw Orcas Protected Services is also available to any billionaire trying to waste money on elections, let’s meet on the sea!
[silently erasing 5,280 word explanation of how smokeless grills work] nothing to see here…
White gender wars is elite because I believe about half of them are real because they usually come from accounts where the woman has made her entire personality about being trad wife and then they’ll make a video complaining how their husband won’t lift a finger to help around the house or they do something really egregious and the comment section will say how horrible the husband is only for them to make a second video defending the husband. It leaves you to wonder which is it. There was a a tik tok trend where the wives or girlfriends would tell the guy to pretend they’re another woman, basically acting out how they would respond if another woman hit on them. For the most part the men would push the woman away and say I have a significant other. Well one white guy literally spit in his girlfriend’s face, like hawk spit. The comment section was up in arms saying how disrespectful that was and he doesn’t like her. Then she made a video defending him. Couldn’t be me.
Elections have consequences. I live in Indiana, which has a Republican supermajority and we elected a disciple of Trump for Governor. I worked in education and because of federal and state funding cuts, I lost my job. Not a week later, I was billed for a surgery that I had last year and potentially will not be eligible for Medicaid/Medicare because services are being cut as we speak.
I know that the cuts don’t take effect for another couple of years, but I hope that at the end of my layoff period this October that Medicare and unemployment compensation services will be available for me, but with these fools it’s not looking good.
I appreciate Karen’s point in response to the news about medical debt going back on credit reports. I interpreted her point to be that before the ACA , the lack of access to insured medical care and the economic impacts of that (such as the cost, inability to pay followed by the impact to one’s credit score) was more severe. Folks responsible for their/dependents’ medical care pre-ACA know this in ways that people who started taking on these responsibilities when the ACA emerged do not.
Karen made an important connection between the current circumstance Rod was reporting on, and historical patterns/shifts related to it. As someone in her early 50s, this context she added resonated with me.
I agree and appreciate her point as well. Clarity is important because if I hadn’t clarified that this new ruling wasn’t the same as taking away the ACA or even taking away anyone’s insured status another listener would be writing in explaining the difference like we didn’t know. That’s the only reason I felt it was important to make the distinction.
Thanks and I agree – your points complemented each other.
Most people aren’t heros, you are right! I know im less a rule follower that most but still, when there was a chance for me in jail for months, I probably wouldn’t risk it.
