Hi Balls Deep Crew, I’m still so curious about this Kawhi story! I think the penalty – if any — will be driven by the other owners, and they are having their annual meeting with Silver this week. At first I thought the owners would push Silver to drop the hammer, because they already think Ballmer has an unfair advantage with his wealth, but then I wondered that maybe they don’t want to set a new obligation for themselves. That the other owners don’t want the NBA looking at their books, ‘cuz I’m sure some of them lend out their personal planes and beach houses to star players. I also think they don’t want to be held responsible for vetting each third party contract a player enters into. Any ideas on how the owners will fall on this? Have you been swayed either way in the past week?
Sports media continues to get messier. I usually root for Ryan Clark, but he had an embarrassing misstep this week. I blame it on the general lack of professionalism in sports media today. When you have no standards, people get reckless, and Ryan did. At least he cleaned it up fast. Lastly on the media front, that Skip Bayless-Gilbert Arenas NFL show is going to be insane lol. So funny that now the athletes are hiring the journalists. What a topsy turvy world.
