Rod, I love your passion and I love the way you defend yourself, Karen, your integrity and this podcast. You were so real for that. In the face of criticism or even outright falsehoods, some people are so afraid to lose listeners that they won’t speak up even when they’ve been done wrong. I hope the person who wrote in and accused you of saying the things you didn’t say reflects and is at least big enough to write back in with an apology. And if they don’t, their loss. The real ones will continue to support you.
That being said I wanted to make a clarification of my own. A listener wrote in, I’m sure they were joking when they said there was beef between me and Apia. I promise you there isn’t. I adore her. And if I’m ever in Germany I hope to meet her and share a pretzel. And she could even call me one of her black friends. The only person I have any beef with is Rod when he slanders Arby’s. It’s a fine establishment who has the meats.
Same! There was never any problem. I’m sad myself that I liked Chet Hanks in the basket ball show but had to be honest about it for my moral integrity,.and admitting felt liberating. When you are ever in Germany, let’s meet!❤️
How I think conservative propaganda works on people:
They think: “ the complexity of the world is too much for me. I want easy answers that ideally not challenge me at all and blame other groups for all the problems so I can keep feeling superior and don’t have to change anything myself. Who is offering this? Ah, those right wing guys who continently are mostly white men, aka the group that was always in charge the most, so this must be right.”
And why don’t black people for the most fall for this? Because they were at no time winners of the status quo because of racism , so any going back to a time before wouldn’t favor them, in opposite to white men. There was a time when white men could prohibit the wife of having her own bank account for example, so they did have more power before just by their identity.
White women who fall for this trust more the patriarchy to protect them than themselves , but they are mistaken. The patriarchy cares only about itself.
