I feel like I should open a DE ice cream shop and only sell different varieties of chocolate ice cream, butter pecan and anything that’s and rainbow colors, and no vanilla of any kind. And I’d sell kool aid pickles on the side. I bet I could get a lot of business. My slogan would be, Everyday is Juneteenth when you have D E Ice cream.
The history of Butter Pecan ice cream is proof, once again, that Black People just make everything better!
The irony is, that vanilla, the plants that creates the taste, is from Mexico.
I have a very specific memory of Freedom Williams. When I was a 12 year old Apia and just new in Germany, learning German. I read an interview with him in a youth magazine and the headline was ” we are not a one hit wonder, that’s for sure” I didn’t know this expression and this is how I learned it. The irony.
All those essays coming in and it wasn’t me! Been working on my restraint (as well as two research papers, student grading, re-writing a textbook on English to Japanese translation, and a couple other things) but, definitely it was the restraint that kept me from writing an essay on Butter Pecan or other topics…
I like your “Rocky Road to Freedom” take on a title, but I was really thinking the “One Nut Rule” might have something… Nah, you’re probably right.
