Interesting thing about Camilla Mendes & Morena Baccarin is both are Brazilian & not once did their ethnicities come into play in any facet of this. Like, does Duncan have a Brazilian wife? It never comes up. Rod & Karen, you both hit the nail on the head about this being a 5/5 for long-time He-man fans. They’ll eat up this cornball, badly-written trash with God Awful artificial flavoring. You can also tell, this film had A LOT of prior collaborators trying to make this work (film’s been in development for many years) & the fact that Travis Knight couldn’t get it done, really speaks volume to the overall boredom this was. Jared Leto absolutely nails Skeletor. Great performance. Couldn’t believe it but this whole thing is surrounded by so much forced hack bullshit, it was unbearable. Not only was I checking my watch, so I could make it to Scary Movie 6 (also, not good) at 11pm, last night, I was checking it because this shit ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY shouldn’t be 141 minutes. Shit has zero substance. None. Allison Brie’s game for this B-movie shit & she’s given little to do & I like Nicolas Galitzine as an actor, but the script he’s given to play this fish-outta-watwr scenario never finds its footing (Did I also mention this film had like 4-5 writers here? (Deadpool & Wolverine had that many & found a way to make it work, fwiw).

So, yeah, it’s bad (CGI’s bad, too). It’s a film with an identity crisis & it doesn’t know if it wants to be MotU on its own merits or MotU as a meta-commentary on masculinity & it fails at both. Truly a pity.
