   This morning while Spotify was running my playlist it loaded up the song “Sirens” from The Odyssey. I didn’t see my phone to know the song, but I felt really sad and started welling up. And I remembered it was the scene with Matt Damon roped to the mast screaming and crying.

   Goddamn they did their thing with the sound design and score. The sound that the cyclops made when they stabbed its eye is imprinted on my bones. I don’t know when I’ll have 3 hours to watch this again but I look forward to specifically those scenes again.

   My White Brotha, Christopher Nolan. Telling these good for nothing, sack of shits, I’m still one of one.

   The Odyssey’s amazing (never read either The Illad or the aforementioned one the film’s based on) with lush, incredible sequences. The cast’s spectacular with Matt Damon leading the charge (film needed a lil’ more Jon Bernthal cookin’ but my man delivered). Gotta give Anne Hathaway & Samantha Morton (My GAWD!) for their exemplary performances. Lupita was great. Understated, but great nonetheless.

   IMAX Presentation’s spectacular (Plan on watching the next versions on 70MM & High-Dynamic Range) showcasing why IMAX is the king of this level of scope. Big props to Hoyte Van Hoytema cinematography.

   The film did drag a bit, but a journey’s only as daunting per the viewer, so while this isn’t paced like Oppenheimer or Inception, it serves this film, telling a tale of not allowing soldiers to run aimlessly into their dooms.

   It’s currently my second favorite Christopher Nolan feature, right behind Interstellar.

   While I expect Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, Dune 3, Digger & Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother (New Mahershala Ali flick) to be some level of riveting, that Nolan scale is something different.

   And with The Mayor of Cinema, Tom Cruise, giving it its approval, an excellent time at the movies!
