I stand corrected about the Switch 2. I still see them in the stores but it’s clear Nintendo anticipated that they would sell like hot cakes. I’m so sorry for upsetting you Karen but I kind of lived for that tongue lashing. What does that say about me?
I was JUST talking to my husband about this Target boycott stuff. Saying how even if they come back into the light, so to speak, they’ve already tainted their public opinion in a way many of the people boycotting them aren’t going back. They showed their whole ass with this one. There are stores I boycott that I won’t give up on – Hobby Lobby (for trying to police women’s bodies with their health insurance regulations), Chick-fil-A (for being homophobic – just because they’re not publicly donating to anti-LGBT charities doesn’t mean they’re not still doing it privately), and now Target for turning their back on DEI and Pride.
“People never forget the way you made them feel” doesn’t just apply to interpersonal relationships.
Also, I think there is a lot more support for The Last Starfighter out there, it was an amazing movie and an intriguing premise… If you did a SMR on it I would rewatch the movie just to prepare for your podcast!
I never listened to movie reviews until SMR… they are still the only movie reviews I feel are worth listening to…
I used to listen to movie reviews a lot in the past, but deep down there was something off without realizing it. Looking back it’s clear that I was searching hard for something. Then one day, a Russian lady said “check out Spoiled Movie Review ” and I never returned back to the ghetto… okay that was from my forthcoming book. Seriously, I don’t fucks with many reviews after you guys opened my 3rd eye to the reviews of movies or shows made by especially Black creators. I figured what had been missing in my reviews content.
Now Rod, you’ll be glad to know that I fell asleep listening to this episode (I paused it as a good responsible citizen to continue after). So why did I dream of you still reading me for filth and calling me out when I asked you to play a new tune? It was only your voice and it was so hilarious that I laughed into waking up. Maybe Book 2? Paravai-Kaaran out!

When people criticize protesters and activists of today, notice that the examples they give for people who supposedly did it right, are always dead activists. Because they cant do or say anything anymore. People got used to their names and make up legends about what they really did. It’s not like MLK just walked into the senate and said: ” would you please cool it with that racism please?” And the politicians finally understood. ” now that you asked us politely, of course! Pizza party for everyone! “
