Hello Rod, Karen and Fellow Lovers of all that is Nerdy,

    I hope you’re having a fantastic Friday!

Speaking of Fantastic, I did check out The Fantastic Four movie and I loved it. It really was a tribute to Jack Kirby and Stan Lee as it takes place on Earth 828 which is Jack Kirby’s and my mother’s birthday. As you mentioned in your review, it was the ’60’s aesthetic that I loved as well as the ending movie credit that paid homage to the 60’s cartoon. The only thing missing was a MF DOOM beat drop.

Also I loved Superman! The main reason why I gave the movie a chance was the second Suicide Squad along with Creature Commandos. I loved the care and approach that James Gunn gave the movie and giving us the feel of the Christopher Reeves version of Superman that I grew up with.

In the year of our Lord, 2025, I am finally starting Demon Slayer. I am now at the first movie, which takes place on a train. Demon Slayer is soooooo good and I am kicking myself for waiting so long to start. I got to get on it because of the upcoming movie that is coming out. Before Demon Slayer, I did finish watching Frieren and toughly enjoyed it. My elf is the definition of resting bitch face, yet is super powerful. I would love your thoughts on this as well. Also finished Lazarus and on Wednesday, I took a mental health day and watched all of Eyes on Wakanda. When I tell you that Ryan Coogler is having one hell of a year, my man is having one hell of a year!!! We get Sinners, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda and the documentary that he did on Hurricane Katrina…..this man is in his production bag!

Also, I made my pilgrimage to Galaxycon in Raleigh last month. I love going to cons to get some ideas for what I want to read, see the cosplay, and roam around to see the stars that they have for autographs and pictures. I will say that the extrovert in me loves the cons, but I will admit that weekend was hotter than hell and you hope and pray that everyone uses the deodorant with the aluminum.

Thank you again for all that you do and take care!

What it do Nerd Off Crew,

    I hope all is well.

That Superman movie was fucking amazing and I love how the whole cast actually mattered. Lois Lane is *shown* being a great journalist rather than us hearing about it as a throwaway line. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor embodies levels of bitter negativity and hating I ain’t seen since the Justice League animated shows. Mister fucking Terrific (that’s all I gotta say, that nigga was doing the damn thing)! But I think my favorite thing was that we got a Superman movie where Superman being a giant sweetheart is treated as integral to the character and not something to be solved for.

And that Fantastic Four movie? It’s was fanfuckingtastic. Marvel first family was a legit family on screen *and* we actually got to see all four of them shine in their own ways. The art deco design was lovely. I did not recognize Jospeh Quinn from Stranger Things as the Human Torch (power of a haircut). Pedro Pascal is absolutely Reed Richards and I was mostly sold after he talked about always having to prepare for the worst What If scenarios…but there is a specific sentence he said to Sue at a specific time where I pointed at the screen like Leo. Speaking of Sue, Vanessa Kirby showed out as Sue Storm.

Outside of movies, I’ve been neck deep in College Football 26, which I heard a writer nickname “Football Dark Souls” and he was very much correct. Defenses adjust better than ever and that Wear N Tear system is wearing my ass out as I wear out my running backs while moving the ball like prime Barry Switzer. Considerably harder but also very rewarding to play when things *do* work and filled with details that players like me would notice.

This is easily the nerdiest thing I have written in all the years of listening to y’all:

CFB 26 dropped their second update and they added Inside Veer Triple Option out of the Power-I formation, something that ain’t been in these games since *NCAA 2006*. Additionally, they added *all* of the wingbone formations that Army used to run from NCAA 14…except this time they actually work! Wingbone formations in NCAA 14 didn’t properly show which defender to read on option plays, effectively making them useless.

I have no idea how to pronounce “Gachiakuta”, but this show looks fucking good and weird. It’s nice to see an anime that confirms it smells crazy as hell throughout the world and has a protagonist that definitely is giving ADHD-vibes.

I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend! Thank you as always!

    Peace,

    Dough

    hows it going Nerds

I enjoyed Fantastic Four. That stuff in space looked great on the big screen. Wasn’t it nice getting two good & fun comic book movies within two weeks of each other with Superman as well.

New Fortnite season season started & it has power rangers in it. Looks like it’s time for Godzilla to lace up the Jordan’s & get back in the action.

Also put together the K-2SO & one piece Lego sets & i think my nephews definitely a nerd in training.

    Cheers

    Sup nerds?

Damn shame what happened to Chuck E. just when he was about to buy NBC.

Anyways, I’m catching up on shows and wanted to say that I loved Wheel of Time, and I thought it had some of the best writing, character and relationship development of any television show. It was especially refreshing for a cast of women and black characters.

I would like to see these streaming studios separate out some of their properties out into smaller, niche brands like it use to be with tv. In my non-expert, black, woman and queer consumer opinion, it’s more trouble than it’s worth to put a show like Wheel OT or Acolyte on the main stage with “sexier”, GOT type properties with majority white leads.
People couldn’t really complain long-term about the mid-budget sci-fi shows of the CW when that’s all they specialized in, or the queerness of Logo tv, or anime on Crunchyroll, or Squidbillies of Adult Swim.
I feel like all the stuff I like is being stalled out by anti-DEIers, and also by the attention of people who just like different things.

In a year where Gemstones again got 0 awards in its category despite being one of the best, innovative and most evolved- while a show like Sirens on Netflix that’s not bad but has been heralded with multiple nominations for reheating old white nachos (in my opinion)-
I would rather something that I like get a smaller budget and be completely overlooked, while also quietly entering its 5th and final season.

It’s always sweet to hear Jack and Lashonda join Rod and Karen on the show! Peace!
